Heidi Skjerve – Songs From Thoreau’s Journals

kr 100,00kr 300,00 inc. VAT

This album presents chamber music based on passages from Henry David Thoreau’s Journal, composed by jazz vocalist Heidi Skjerve for string quartet and prepared piano, also including field recordings of birds, bumblebees and wind turbines. Thoreau describes the joy of sauntering in the woods, the sounds of birds and frogs, and how humans take liberties with nature, topics that are highly relevant almost two centuries after they were written! The lyrics provides the inspiration and framework for the music that ranges from romantic instrumental parts and impressionistic harmonies to open soundscapes with improvised elements, across any boundaries of genre or style.
