Description
The work OSEAN is created by the ensembles Stemmeklang and Parallax, with the mausoleum in the Emanuel Vigeland Museum in Oslo as a sonic backdrop and sound laboratory. OSEAN is a sonic ocean journey through coral reefs and hurricanes, foghorns, bird and whale songs, dripping caves and forgotten shipwrecks – all bathed in the mausoleum’s great acoustics and unique atmosphere – and released as an elaborate physical edition with an exclusive pop-up paper sculpture designed by the renowned German paper artist Peter Dahmen, in addition to digital distribution. The physical release mirrors the musical work. OSEAN is created from sonic and melodic fragments and moods, a repertoire of musical elements that are put together in slightly different ways each time it is performed. This building block-like way of putting together a work is also evident in the physical CD release.
